According to origo.hu, there was a truck stealing that became a car chase. Two men were chased by the police from Kecskemet to Vasad in January. They smashed two police cars, threw petrol cans onto the road and did not stop when two police cars tried to block their way. They will probably go to jail.
The two men stole the truck in Kecskemet and went towards Budapest on the highway M5, when the police started following them in January. The 26-year-old driver did not stop despite being called to by the police.
His partner threw petrol can, metal sills and other objects on the road, endangering the lives of the policemen.
The policemen overtook the truck, but suddenly, they had to brake, and then the driver bumped into the police car. Nobody was injured and the thieves drove forth on the main road 4 towards Cegled.
The people in the stolen car did not surrender even when two empty police cars blocked the road at Monorierdo, at the junction of the main road 4. They bumped into the cars and drove forth without slowing.
Finally they were caught at Vasad and they were immediately taken into custody.
A video is made available about the chase, published by the police on Tuesday:
The investigation revealed that the older man drove the car drugged and he did not even have a driving license. He is under house arrest and is accused of road violence, driving committed in intoxicated state, betrayal and violence against public official as well as of abuse.
His companion may protect himself at large. He is accused of violence against the transport safety and an official.
The prosecution suggested prison sentence to be carried out – as the Bacs-Kiskun County Prosecutor’s Office conducted.
